New Mobile Outreach Service

We are excited to soon be launching our new mobile library on Saturday 10 June 2023This smaller, more versatile vehicle will enable the service to access more locations and reach more customers.

The new Mobile Library was built by Varley Group with the graphics designed by Gregg Dreise, First Nations artist, local author and storyteller. 

Upcoming Changes to the Service 

As of Saturday 10 June 2023, a new mobile library timetable will be introduced to better reflect community demand and patterns of use. The new timetable will continue to visit current stops on a new weekly schedule.

Community Booking

The new, smaller and more versatile vehicle can now visit more locations across the shire.  These could include retirement villages, local parks, school and community events.   

A booking process is currently being developed. In the interim, if you are interested in booking the Mobile Library to visit your event, email mobilelibrary@noosa.qld.gov.au

FAQs

When will the new vehicle and timetable start? 

The current vehicle and timetable will remain in operation until Friday 9 June 2023. The new vehicle and timetable will start on Saturday 10 June 2023.  

Will the new vehicle continue to come to my Mobile Library stop? 

Yes, the service would still visit Boreen Point, Cooran, Kin Kin, Noosa Junction, Peregian Beach, Pomona on a weekly schedule, however there may be changes to the days and times that the mobile library visits your stop.  Please review the new timetable for new visiting days/times. 

Will the new vehicle be coming back to Sunrise Beach? 

Yes!  Now we have a smaller vehicle that can access this area, we can return to visiting Sunrise Beach.  Please review the new timetable for visiting times. 

Will I still be able to browse items and pick up reservations from the proposed vehicle? 

Yes, the new vehicle will carry library items to browse and borrow, and reservations that are ready to collect. Staff will be available to help with your selection, and reserve items you may want. 

Could I still access free WiFi and use a computer on board? 

Yes, WiFi will still be available and a tablet to access the internet and library catalogue will be available for public use.  

Will I still see the Mobile Library Staff in the new service? 

Yes the staff are looking forward to being part of the new service, and the new model will allow other staff to deliver workshops and programs as well. 

Can I still meet with friends as part of the new service? 

Yes, you are welcome and encouraged to meet friends as part of your visit to the outreach library service. The vehicle will be air-conditioned, and the new alfresco area has been added to provide additional room to meet and gather with friends. 

Can I book the new service to visit my community or organisation event?
