As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, State and territory health authorities have required some businesses to collect personal information from their patrons as a condition of re-opening. This requirement is at the direction of the Chief Health Officer in accordance with emergency powers arising from the declared public health emergency under the Public Health Act 2005 (Qld).Further information in relation to this power can be viewed here. In line with the easing of restrictions from 4pm on 8 August 2021, Council’s libraries and community centres are employing a range of measures to help keep the community safe during the Covid-19 pandemic while ensuring its community continue to share the benefit of access to services. Some of these measures include:
- Wearing of face masks;
- Maintaining physical distancing;
- Practicing good hand hygiene; and
- Using the check in system with the CheckInQLD app (or checking in manually with library staff).

Queensland Health directives require all library patrons to sanitise their hands on entry to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
