Remembrance Day Event
Noosa Council is hosting Looking Forward to Peace, a community event to commemorate the centenary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I. The event will be held on Sunday 11 November 2018 from 12noon - 4pm in Tewantin Memorial Park and will include musical entertainment, information displays, a community art activity, food and refreshments and a re-enactment of the 1918 peace flotilla on the Noosa River.
An important element of this community event will be a re-enactment of the peace flotilla that took place in 1918 when local residents decorated their watercraft and traversed the Noosa River celebrating the signing of the Armistice and the cessation of World War I.
Council invites local water craft owners and operators to decorate their watercraft and join a flotilla on the Noosa River on Remembrance Day, gathering above Sheep Island, passing Tait’s Jetty around 12noon-12.15pm. It is envisaged that this will create a fantastic spectacle for those in the park and along the Noosa River foreshore.
