Gympie Terrace was home to colourful characters from its beginning. Everybody knew everybody at first – there were just 13 houses after forty years of the neighbourhood’s existence. Even by the early 1930s there was still only 60 houses and shops. Many of these people were fast friends, fishing mates, business partners, and a few even eloped.
