Noosaville Library to close for $1.7M revamp
Noosaville Library is set to undergo a $1.7million revamp, starting in March.
Libraries and Galleries Manager Kerri Contini said the Library would close from March 5, with two temporary sites – at Noosa Leisure Centre and Noosa Civic – to open while work is under way.
“While the Library is closed, customers can access all the same Library services, just at different locations. Noosa Civic site will house the bulk of the book collection, so is the place to visit if you want to browse the collection or use a PC,” Ms Contini said.
“Customers will also be able to return books at the Noosa Leisure Centre, including after hours, as well as collect books they have on reserve.”
Cooroy Library will operate as usual.
Ms Contini said most of the Library’s programs and events would continue as usual, but with some location changes. For more information, visit the website.
Noosaville Library will close from March 5. The temporary Library at Noosa Civic will open Monday, March 12, while the Noosa Leisure Centre site will be open from February 26.
The $1.7million revamp will deliver:
80m2 of additional library space.
A complete internal refurbishment.
Publicly available programming, training and meeting rooms.
A technology Maker Space.
A children’s early literacy space.
An outdoor Wi-Fi and reading courtyard.
Heritage Library room.
New lighting and air-conditioning to meet Council’s sustainability goals.
Radio Frequency ID smart technology
“Noosaville Library is a much-loved public service which has served the community well for more than 20 years and this important upgrade will ensure it continues to meet library users’ needs now and into the future,” Ms Contini said.
“We appreciate the community’s patience while the renovation takes shape.”
Noosa Council has received $805,954 toward the cost of the refurbishment under the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.
